Challenge
“Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya” is the institution that has been representing architecture professionals in Catalonia for more than 80 years. Today, it has established itself in our society as a source of national and international prestige.
This profession is a reflection of society and, therefore, faced an evolving context, especially after a crisis that had forced its professionals and organizations to reinvent themselves, with new needs, areas of specialization, and profiles that needed to be represented. The COAC’s objective was to undertake a transformation process that involved a redefinition of its functions, services, and positioning, and consequently, a new identity capable of expressing all of this.
Approach
COAC’s new identity had to reflect the architecture of the 21st century and, at the same time, be much more flexible and dynamic in order to adapt to the new horizons of the sector and to current and future professionals.
From a rigorous immersion process, the "We are Architects" positioning emerged to represent the vocation to unify architecture in all its diversity and plurality, highlighting the pride of being an architect, and reaffirming the entity as the benchmark for its professionals. This concept seeks to reinforce the role of the architect in society, reviving professionals' enthusiasm and encouraging their sense of belonging.
Solution
The new COAC needed to be more accessible and open in order to get closer to the public. It also had to be able to enhance the social value of the discipline and transcend the traditional role of professional associations to become an actor in society. Thus, the COAC went from being an acronym to becoming the name of the institution.
The concept we defined, which gave life to the entire identity, was: The window that responds to tomorrow's society. The result was an empowered brand for modern times, asserting the relevance of Architecture and its professionals as the window through which to address the challenges of the future.
