Cinco Jotas is a brand that has dedicated over 130 years to preserving the purity and authenticity of the world’s finest 100% Iberian pork products. Each year, a limited-edition release pays tribute to this craftsmanship, and for the 2023 Christmas Special Collection, we embraced the challenge of capturing Cinco Jotas’ “savoir-faire” in an exquisite manner. This would mean creating a concept that represents its essence and unique flavour, honouring Spanish gastronomic culture and heritage.

In our quest to embody the taste and mastery in an artwork, we devised the concept “Memory of Movement”, a tribute to the Masters and their gestures, passed on by predecessors and perfected through repetition. This idea explores the beauty of gesture and movement, valuing how effort and passion, talent, experience, and mastery of art achieve brilliance.

The precise gesturality used by Oteyza in his work, involves crafting garments for dancing and creating beautiful images of moving fabric. This collaboration shares its vision and values with Cinco Jotas, as an artisanal tailor shop reviving tradition through modernity, design, and simplicity. So, one of our most represented pieces was an emblematic reinterpretation of the ancient Spanish cape, a symbol of our culture and art, designed to be in motion. Here at Morillas, we showcased these dynamic forms suspended in the air through photographic compositions. We encapsulated the six key processes of production, visually defining and directing the art of all scenes. Inspired by Cinco Jotas’ six key processes: trimming, salting, drying, cala – or probe – testing (by the cellar and testing masters), and cutting, we expressed the passion and art of a mastered profession through various creative and expressive resources, such as colour, light, fabrics, and gestures.
